• Why should I choose Aable Home Improvements?

We are so confident in the very high quality of our work, for example our careful preparation and our attention to detail finishing, that we do not ask for any money whatsover up front, not even a deposit and not even a payment towards the cost of materials.

We only ask for payment when the job is complete.

So there is absolutely no risk to you.

The quality of our bathrooms is unsurpassed in the industry and it's because as a small family business we really do care and we consistently think about excellence.

We tend not to use a team of tradesmen i.e. plumbers, plasterers, electricians, tilers and joiners as we know that you don't  want an endless procession of people through your home.

Instead we employ very skilled bathroom fitters , who take full responsibility for the whole job.

  • How long does a full bathroom installation normally take?

A full fitted bathroom normally takes around 5.5 days, however the COVID-19 situation has caused some delays in the supply of materials so this could take a few days longer than normal.

  • Can you fit out a new bathroom in just one or two days?

No, there are a few fundamental problems with that i.e.

1- A one day bathroom installation might sound like a great selling point, but it is clearly going to be a rushed job and the results are plain to see.

2- To properly prepare a bathroom takes a significant length of time to do properly and if the time is not taken, problems are very likely to arise in the future.

3- A one day bathroom fit out has a high chance of leaks which could damage your walls, floors and ceilings. It takes more than a few days to see if there are leaks as they don't always happen immediately. At Aable we regulary check our pipe joints and pipework etc for the signs of leaks so that we can rectify them before any damage occurs.

4-  The standard of the one or two day bathroom installation is nowhere even close to the standard that we leave our customers with.

A great bathroom needs careful planning, time, attention to detail and an eye for the finishing touches involved to leave you with a superior fitted bathroom.

  • How do you prepare and fit a PVC ceiling with down lights?

We don't cut corners when fitting a new bathroom ceiling. We never stick the PVC panels directly onto the ceiling. This can create some problems for example, the finish is unlikely to be very good or as level as it could and should be because the panels will naturally follow the undulations and bumps in the ceiling. The down lights are also likely to be cut right into the plasterboard which breaks the fire resistant properties of  the plasterboard, meaning in the unfortunate event of a fire it could quickly spread upwards.

In addition the lights could be then be nestled in your loft insulation which can cause overheating and fire risk.

At Aable we like don't like to compromise the fire resistance of the plasterboard ceiling by making a point of not cutting into the plasterboard when ever possible and if we need to for any reason we will then fit  fire rated lights which resist the path of fire.

We fit a wooden subframe to mount our fire resistant PVC panels onto which also leaves a better more level new ceiling. We also fit IP65 rated downlights to all areas of your new bathroom not just in the bath or showering area. These are the downlights that seal tightly onto the ceiling and have a built in glass front to stop water jet ingress. The bodies of the lights are also positioned in the cavity between the plasterboard ceiling and the PVC ceiling which allows air flow and cooling to happen.

We always finish where the walls meet the ceiling with a nice matching PVC beading for that real quality look (no unsightly bead of silicone).

The difference in the quality is clearly apparent when you think about it.

  • How do you prepare the floor prior to tiling it?

We never tile directly onto floor boards because that is not a good base for tiling as the movement of the floor boards is likely to crack the tiles and burst the grout.

HardieBacker tile backing board or similar is used as a strong and durable base for the tiles. These cement fibre boards offer superior tile adhesion, are very strong and will not decay even if exposed to water.

This is the perfect water resistant backing for fixing tiles professionally.

  • Do you protect my carpets while fitting a new bathroom?

    Yes, carpets are protected.

We lay a clear self adhesive carpet protection film and also put down dust sheets too.

  • Do you dispose of the old bathroom suite and rubbish?

Yes, disposal of all waste is included in our price.

  • Will I get a written quotation for the work?

Yes, we will give you our quotation in writing with a detailed list of the work that we offer to carry out.

In addition we can show you samples of some of the materials that are available within the price package that you have chosen for example wetwall, tiles and click vinyl.

You will also get the option to choose your  taps, shower, vanity units etc.

  • Will I be given a start time for the work?

The COVID-19 situation has made it a bit more difficult to give an exact start date. This is because the supply of materials is still proving difficult in some situations.

We will however be able to give you a rough start time and a firm start date nearer the time.

  • Do you employ a team of tradesmen to install new bathrooms?

We will generally allocate a single highly skilled bathroom fitter to see the job through from start to finish. Sometimes he will be accompanied by an assistant when required.

The job will also be managed and visted regulary by the Aable proprietors.
